The long-awaited premiere of Schaherezade in Moscow, Pavel Glukhov’s one-man show The Paper Man performed at the State Pushkin Museum and the State Hermitage Museum, an Evening of Contemporary Choreography, La Veronal’s Pasionaria, and the first book released by the festival’s publishing program.

The pandemic: the online premieres of Alexei Miroshnichenko's ballet Schaherezade and Pavel Glukhov and Diana Vishneva’s 2020 video-project, master-classes from the Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal, and a public talk on the prospective existence of dance in the age of the Internet. Ernest Nurgali is the competition’s winner.

Grand Finale by Hofesh Shechter’s dance company, a performance of Equal Elevations by La Veronal given at the State Pushkin Museum and the Fabergé Museum, the launch of Context Open – a contest for completed works in choreography, the Russian premiere of Alla Kovgan’s film Cunningham. Kirill Radev is the competition’s winner.

Emergence by Crystal Pite and Being and Nothingness by Guillaume Côté, Ohad Naharin’s Venezuela performed by Batsheva, an Evening for Young Choreographers, workshops on scene photography, lighting, and dance criticism. The choreographers’ competition’s winner is Anna Shchkleina.

Fifth anniversary; Goyo Montero’s Asunder, Marco Goecke’s Nijinsky, Alessandra Ferri and Herman Cornejo in Wayne McGregor’s Witness, a duet by Sidi Larbi Cherkaou performed by Drew Jacoby and Matt Folly to music by Woodkid, works by young choreographers are shown in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm, and Yekaterinburg. The competition’s winner is Olga Labovkina.

The festival in Moscow and in St. Petersburg at the Mariinsky Theater; the arrival of Mats Ek, Ana Laguna and Ivan Autseli in Axe, Diana Vishneva and Aurélie Dupont in Ohad Naharin’s B/olero, in the film program: Mr. Gaga and The Choreographer Mats Ek. Olga Vasilyeva is the winner of the choreographers’ competition.

Martha Graham with The Rite of Spring, An Evening of Dutch Masters, Hans van Manen's Live, tango in the air, and the first ever Context competition for young Russian choreographers; Konstantin Semyonov emerges as its new finalist.

Evenings by NDT II and Gauthier Dance, works by Paul Lightfoot and Sol León, Hans van Manen and Itzik Galili, Diana Vishneva in a solo created by Marco Goecke, a choreographic piece for the gala-concert by Angelin Preljocaj, a victory for Liliya Burdinskaya at the second display of young choreographers' works.

The opening of the festival at the Gogol Center, a performance given by Introdans, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s In memoriam, Diana Vishneva’s first performance in a work by Jiří Kylián, Wim Wenders’s film on Pina Bausch, and the first display of Russian choreographers' works in which Vladimir Varnava and Konstantin Keykhel emerge as winners.
