The young choreographers competition has become the main event of the Context. Diana Visheva festival. This evening some of the best young choreographers, finalists of the Young Сhoreographers Competition of Context. Diana Vishneva will present their new works, created for the festival.

Exclusive performances of the evening will be created by Olga Timoshenko, the winner of 2018, and Anna Schekleina (finalist of 2018) performed by dancers from russian dance companies.

The competition has been held annually since 2013 as part of Context. Diana Visheva contemporary dance festival. Over the years, it has evolved / grown into / to become a flagship event with its own structure, programme and audience. Over the years, it has evolved from a small experimental project to a major event with its own structure, programme and audience. Today the competition attracts over 200 applicants hailing from every corner of Russia, draws a live audience of about 1500 people and an online audience of over 130 000 people for its finale, has an extensive parallel programme, offers the participants an opportunity to showcase their creations at some of the best venues of Moscow and St. Petersburg and even go on tour.

Tatiana Baganova

Co-founder and artistic director of the Provincial Dances Theatre in Yekaterinburg, author and stage director of performances for the Provincial Dances Theatre, guest choreographer at the theaters, the Bavarian State Opera: Lulu, the Bolshoi Theater; nominee and laureate of the Golden Mask National Theatre Award.

Eric Gauthier

Eric Gauthier is a high-profile international choreographer.

After a soloist career at the Stuttgart Ballet, he founded Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart in 2007. Now it is one of Germany's most successful companies.

Top companies worldwide have taken Gauthier's works into their repertoire – including the Staatsballett Berlin, the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Ballet, the Stuttgart Ballet, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam or Het Nationale Ballet Amsterdam. Devised by Gauthier and produced by Theaterhaus Stuttgart, COLOURS International Dance Festival 2015 created a stir in the international dance world. The festival is to be continued as a biennial event.

In 2011 Eric Gauthie got the German Dance Prize »Future« in the category choreography for Gauthier himself as well as the German Theatre Prize THE FAUST 2011 and 2013. In the critics' survey 2012/13 of the German specialist magazine tanz, Eric Gauthier was twice nominated as Dancer of the Year – for the solo I Found A Fox Marco Goecke had created for him. Recent kudos include the listing among the "Great Hopes" 2016 in the new yearbook of tanz and the prize for Best Duet at the St. Petersburg DANCE OPEN Festival 2016 for his piece Punk Love.

As the son of a leading Alzheimer's researcher, Eric Gauthier has acquired an awareness for social issues early on. With the Gauthier Dance Mobile, the company brings contemporary dance to youth centres, hospitals or to old people's homes. Eric Gauthier was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg and is a member of the board of trustees of the Alzheimer's Foundation Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Diana Vishneva

People’s Artist of Russia, principal dancer of the Mariinsky Theatre, principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre (2005-2017), creator and ideological inspirer of the festival Context. Diana Vishneva and dance studio in Saint Petersburg Studio Context. 

Born in Leningrad. In 1995 she graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. Being a student, she became a trainee at the Mariinsky Theater, and in 1996 she made her debut at the Bolshoi Theatre, where she continues to act as a guest ballerina.

The repertoire of Diana Vishneva includes the works of the most significant choreographers: John Neumeier, Mauro Bigonzetti, Mats Ek, Hans van Manen, Jean-Christophe Mayo, Caroline Carlson, Ohad Naharin, Paul Lightfoot and Sol Leon, Martha Graham and others. In 2010, on her initiative, the Foundation for the Promotion of Ballet Art was established. Diana 

Vishneva is a laureate of the State Prize go Russia, the Dancer of Europe prize, six Golden Mask awards, Golden Sofit, «Benois de la danse», Ballerina of the Decade and many other awards.

Meinrad Huber

In his 30 years as the curator of various festivals, Meinrad Huber has acquired a wealth of experience and contacts in the international cultural scene. From 1987 to 2001, in his hometown of Isny, he ran a festival of music, theatre, cabaret and dance that also offered a comprehensive range of workshops. During the 1990s, he worked with the Scala Theater in Ludwigsburg, where, among other things, he programmed an annual jazz festival. From 1996 to 2009 he was project director for dance, theatre and world music with the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele/Internationale Festspiele Baden Wuerttemberg. He has also been responsible for the dance programme of the Burghof Lörrach cultural and event centre since it was opened in 1998 until 2015.

Since its first edition in 2015, Meinrad Huber has been Artistic Director Programme of the hugely successful, biennial COLOURS International Dance Festival Stuttgart.

1992, he founded the dance agency ecotopia dance productions with Claudia Bauer, which represents renowned companies from all over the world, including the Netherlands Dans Theater, Sao Paulo Dance Company, Balé da Cidade de São Paulo, the Compagnia Aterballetto, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba, Shen Wei Dance Arts, Helena Waldmann and the Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart.
